Longbarrow Press launches its long-awaited walking-themed anthology The Footing with presentations, readings, audio works and illustrated talks on Monday 25th November at The Shakespeare, Gibraltar Street, Sheffield. The evening kicks off at 7.30 p.m. City, country and coast (and the spaces in between) are the settings for these journeys; here, the act of walking is, by turns, exploratory, destructive, restorative, defiant, contemplative and devotional. The paths taken in The Footing offer new perspectives on landscape, history and memory; a timely reminder of the power of walking to open us up to the unscreened, the unplanned, the unexpected.
The Footing is available to order online at the special price of £12 and will be on sale at just £10 on the night of the launch. Visit The Footing microsite for more information about the book (including recordings, films, essays and extracts from poems): http://thefooting.wordpress.com
